Paying for a funeral can be a worrying, especially if you’ve never arranged a funeral before you may not be aware of the costs involved. We’ll be open and honest with you about what things cost – our prices are online to give you an indication of the sort of fees involved.
After we’ve spoken to you about the type of funeral you want , we’ll give you an estimate of what it will cost. You can make changes at this stage if you wish, but do remember that this can affect the cost.
Please talk to us as soon possible if you’re worried about paying for a funeral. If you require assistance towards the cost of the funeral there is a ‘Funeral Support Payment‘, this could help pay for funeral costs if you live in Scotland. It usually will not cover the full cost of the funeral but it could help pay for some costs.
The costs of the funeral will include the following:
- Professional charges – Provision of all professional services including appropriate advice, support and guidance. All personnel necessary to make the funeral arrangements including completion of all documentation and liaison with all necessary third parties
- Caring for the deceased – bringing them into our care, preparation and presentation, including the use of a private viewing room.
- The coffin or casket
- Additional charges such as a hearse and limousines.
- Third party costs made on your behalf such as flowers, cemetery/crematoria fees, newspaper notices, officiant fees etc.
Some of these costs – such as fees – are fixed; others will depend on the choices you make.
No one wants you to worry about money at a time like this – and we don’t want anyone to take on debt that they cannot afford – so talk to us if you’re worried about paying for a funeral before you sign the estimate.
Before the funeral takes place we will ask you to pay a minimum deposit of £250.00. You’ll then receive the invoice around a week after the funeral, with payment to be made within 35 days of the date of the funeral. Please contact us as soon as possible if you have any questions or concerns.
You can pay by cash, cheque or card at any of our offices, by card on the telephone or by post using a cheque. If required, we can send the invoice to your solicitor and we’ll liaise directly with them.
Please note that, in order to make sure we deliver the best service possible, we’ll ask you for feedback via a simple questionnaire. Please do not feel obliged to complete it if you don’t feel able to.
