Traditional Funeral

What do we mean by a ‘traditional funeral’?

Just that really. A traditional funeral is the type of funeral you’ll be most familiar with attending, or even seeing on TV. They’re held in cemeteries or crematorium.

A service that has been tailored to the family or deceased’s wishes takes place. There are mourners in attendance. A hearse brings the coffin, and close family arrive in a funeral car or cars.

Making the day personal

The standard cost of our traditional funerals include pretty much everything you would expect. But the ability to make the day personal is key here. You can add more cars as you see fit. You can arrange floral tributes. Choose a bespoke coffin. Even have your funeral arranger book a venue and organise catering for the  funeral tea.

Personalising the day is, of course, a very personal thing. But we’ll be on hand to talk to you about your wishes and the many options available to you. A good place to start is by viewing the lists below that specify exactly what’s included in the standard cost, and details just a few of the extra services that are commonly chosen.

If you don’t see something particular that you have in mind, speak to your funeral arranger. They’ll be able to talk you, and indeed help to arrange, almost anything that you would like to be included.

We will always provide you with an estimate for your consideration, we can then adjust this if required.

If you require assistance towards the cost of the funeral there is a ‘Funeral Support Payment‘, this could help pay for funeral costs if you live in Scotland. It usually will not cover the full cost of the funeral but it could help pay for some costs.

A direct cremation (also known as an unattended funeral) is for those who would prefer a straightforward funeral. It’s different to a traditional funeral as there’s no funeral service and you will be unable to be present at the cremation.

The traditional funeral gives you full access to all of our services. The Essential Funeral is a lower cost funeral, but does not include as much flexibility, such as choosing the date and time of the service.
