Our Angle Park Terrace funeral home in Gorgie and Slateford
When we lose a loved one, the first call is often the hardest one to make. Our Angle Park funeral home is a listed former fire station on Angle Park Terrace in Slateford, a few minutes from Gorgie and Dalry, and opposite the Caley Sample Room. We care for families across Gorgie, Dalry, Slateford, Shandon, Craiglockhart, Polwarth, Chesser and Longstone, whether you need us today or you are planning ahead for the future.
Our office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm for appointments, and we are always happy to visit you at home instead if that would be easier. There is parking for families in the old engine bay, where the fire engines were once kept.

Originally from Glasgow, I moved to Edinburgh to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. I am passionate about customer care and that is why I enjoy being a Funeral Director so much now.
I live with my partner Allister in Midlothian and have one daughter, Suzanne. Previously I lived in a rural small holding and had numerous animals, a beloved Bernese Mountain Dog called Belle, a bearded collie, three cats, two pigs and Mr Poppy a house rabbit.
Outside of work I enjoy cycling and have completed many cycling challenges for our nominated charity, including many Pedal for Scotland ( 47 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh), Edinburgh Night-ride ( 50 miles around Edinburgh on Midsummer Evening) and part of The Great Tour of Britain which was 70 miles from St Andrews to Musselburgh. I also enjoy hill climbing and would love to bag lots of Munros in the near future.

I began working with Scotmid in 2000 as a Funeral Operative and progressed to Funeral Director, Senior Funeral Director and to my current role of Funeral Manager. I started at Fountainbridge then our main office and am now based at Angle Park.
Born and bred in Edinburgh I previously worked for The Department of Work and Pensions until I found my real passion in the Funeral Industry. I have never looked back and believe I am very lucky to hold such an important role in the local community. I find my role extremely rewarding when assisting families in their time of need.
The funeral services we offer in Gorgie
Every funeral we arrange from Angle Park is different, because every family is. These are the main choices families make with us:
- Cremation funerals: a full service at a church, chapel or crematorium, followed by the committal. Most families we care for choose Mortonhall Crematorium.
- Burial funerals: a service followed by burial in a local cemetery. We can help you buy a new lair or arrange interment in an existing family lair.
- Direct cremation: an unattended cremation with no service, from £1,449. Many families then hold their own memorial gathering later, in their own time.
- Simple funeral: everything you need for a dignified service and nothing you do not, from £2,199.
- Children’s funerals: we make no charge for our services when a child is lost, and crematorium and burial fees for children are met by the Scottish Government.
- Pre-paid funeral plans: arrange and pay for your own funeral now, at today’s prices.
Whatever you choose, our Angle Park team handles the paperwork, liaises with the crematorium, cemetery, doctors and Registrar, brings your loved one into our care at any hour, and stays with you from the first phone call to the day itself.

We arrange funerals at every local crematorium and cemetery. From Angle Park, the ones families choose most often are:
Crematoria: Mortonhall Crematorium, Warriston Crematorium and Seafield Crematorium. You can find contact details for all the crematoria we work with on our local crematoriums page.
Cemeteries: North Merchiston Cemetery, Dalry Cemetery and Saughton Cemetery, among others. If you have a family lair elsewhere we will arrange the funeral there. Distance is not a problem.

What should I do first when someone dies in Gorgie?
Call us on 0131 346 3140 at any hour. We will bring your loved one into our care and talk you through the next steps, including registering the death. In Scotland a death must be registered within 8 days, and you can do this at any registration office in the country. You do not have to use the one nearest to where the person died.
Are you really available 24 hours a day?
Yes. Our Angle Park office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, but the telephone is answered by our own people around the clock, every day of the year, including Christmas and New Year.

Which crematorium would we use?
Most families we look after from Angle Park choose Mortonhall Crematorium, but we arrange funerals at every crematorium in the area and further afield. If you have no preference we are happy to recommend one.
Can I arrange a funeral without coming into the office?
Yes. We can make all the arrangements by telephone, or visit you at home, whichever is easier for you. Many families find a home visit less daunting.
Do you offer help if we cannot afford the funeral?
Yes. We will always work to a budget you set, and we can help you apply for the Scottish Government’s Funeral Support Payment if you receive certain benefits. Please tell us early. There is more we can do at the start than at the end.
