I find the Scotmid Co-operative team friendly, extremely professional, and empathetic. I’ve been a Funeral Arranger with Scotmid Funerals since 2015, and I still get a great deal of job satisfaction and see it more as a vocation.
Before joining the team, I worked within a charity, as a level 3 Care Assistant looking after older people with Dementia in a Nursing Home in the Grange, Edinburgh. In my short time as a Care Assistant, I became a Key Worker and developed many skill sets, focusing on personalised centred care, and seeing the individual not the disease.
Before my 3 years as a Care Assistant, I spent 25 years as a regular in the British Army. I joined the army at 16 as a Junior Bandsman, and over my career carried out various roles, Medical Assistant, Chemical Warfare Specialist, Health & Safety Advisor, Movements..….I’ve travelled to many places around the world and been on many operations, including the Ambulance Dispute, both Gulf Wars, Northern Ireland, Belize, Bosnia etc, so I have lots of medals. I was eventually medically discharged and left Her Majesty’s Armed Forces in November 2012.
My wife and I have three children/young adults, Shawn, Gemma and Sophie who we are very proud of.
