What should I do first when someone dies in Motherwell?

Call us on 01698 263115 at any hour. We will bring your loved one into our care and talk you through the next steps, including registering the death. In Scotland a death must be registered within 8 days, and you can do this at any registration office in the country. You do not have to use the one nearest to where the person died.

Are you really available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Our Melville Drive office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, but the telephone is answered by our own people around the clock, every day of the year, including Christmas and New Year.

How much does a funeral cost in Motherwell?

Which crematorium would we use?

Most families we look after from Motherwell choose Holytown Crematorium or Daldowie Crematorium, but we arrange funerals at South Lanarkshire and every other crematorium in the area and further afield. If you have no preference we are happy to recommend one.

Do you still look after families in Uddingston, Bothwell and Viewpark?

Yes. Our Uddingston branch has closed, and those families are now cared for by this team in Motherwell, around ten minutes away. Nothing changes about the service you receive, and any funeral plan you already hold is completely unaffected. Call 01698 263115 at any hour.

Can I arrange a funeral without coming into the office?

Yes. We can make all the arrangements by telephone, or visit you at home, whichever is easier for you. Many families find a home visit less daunting.

Do you offer help if we cannot afford the funeral?

Yes. We will always work to a budget you set, and we can help you apply for the Scottish Government’s Funeral Support Payment if you receive certain benefits. Please tell us early. There is more we can do at the start than at the end.
