Walking across Edinburgh for our charity of the year

Bringing Joy to Short Lives

On 18th September, our funeral staff walked across Edinburgh to raise much needed funds for Scotmid’s charity of the year Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

We walked 10 miles from our office at Boswall Parkway, taking the road down by the water, then up over Corstorphine woods for a break at our Forrester Park Drive office, before walking on to our Angle Park Terrace office.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

For over twenty years CHAS has been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. This includes palliative care, family respite and support – through our hospices, homecare services and hospital presence.

Care Across Scotland

Scotmid wants to help CHAS on its mission of ensuring that no family will be alone through the terrifying heartbreak of knowing their child will die young.

Funds raised through the partnership will enable vital development and expansion of their outreach service, CHAS at Home, ensuring they can support children and families in every community across Scotland.

CHAS at Home

Home visit are entirely tailored to each family. Usually lasting 3-4 hours, they provide all the essential care that families would experience in a hospice in the comfort and safety of their own home – respite, nursing care and physiotherapy and most importantly, the emotional support families need to create wonderful memories with their children.

At home and virtual support for families are a lifeline. Scotmid will enable CHAS to provide these vital services to more families across our communities who so desperately need this.
